Port Ghalib & Nights Out

The south's one true promenade — and it's a good one

Set expectations: Marsa Alam is not a clubbing coast. Evenings here are marina strolls, seafood, shisha and stars — and that's exactly the appeal.

Port Ghalib Marina Evening

The south's social hub — corniche, souq, seafood and shisha

Port Ghalib is the south's polished marina town: an evening corniche around moored yachts, a small souq worth a wander, waterfront seafood restaurants and shisha terraces that hum till late-by-southern-standards. Our hosted evening covers the corniche loop, a proper dinner table and the best terrace for the last coffee.

Best time

From sunset; liveliest 19:00–23:00

Entry & fees

Hosted-evening package incl. transfers, reservations and welcome drink — live price below.

Insider tip

Cross to the far side of the marina basin after dinner — the corniche lights double in the still water and the crowd never finds it.

Marsa Alam Town & Fish Restaurants

The working town the resorts forgot — and its honest grilled fish

The actual town of Marsa Alam is a small working fishing settlement, not a resort product — a handful of streets, a fishing harbour and simple restaurants grilling the day's catch at local prices. An evening here is thirty minutes of real Egypt and the coast's most honest seafood bill.

Best time

Early evening, after the boats land the catch

Entry & fees

No entry anywhere — dinner runs local prices. Bring cash.

Insider tip

Ask for the fish singari-style (butterflied, spiced, oven-grilled) — it's the southern kitchen's signature and rarely on the English menu card.
