Wadi El Gemal National Park Safari

Gazelles, Roman ruins and a valley that swallows the horizon

A guided 4x4 day through Egypt's great coastal park: acacia-dotted wadis, dorcas gazelle and Nubian ibex country, the Roman emerald-mining ruins of Sikait, and Ababda guides whose families have read this desert for centuries. The inland half of the park is a genuine wilderness — this is the way in.

Best time

October–April; summer runs are dawn-loaded

Entry & fees

Park entry fee + guided safari bundled in our trip price — live price below.

Insider tip

Insist on the Sikait ruins extension — a Roman emerald-mine town carved into the hillside, and most standard tours skip it to save fuel.

Sunset Camel Caravan

Travel the Ababda way — swaying, slow and golden

An hour-plus caravan into the dunes with Ababda cameleers, timed for the long light: camel shadows stretching over the sand, tea brewed on embers at the turnaround, and the walk-home hour when the desert goes violet. Slow travel in its original form.

Best time

The final two hours before sunset

Entry & fees

Per-rider caravan price incl. tea stop and guide — live price below.

Insider tip

Ask your cameleer to teach you the mount/dismount lean — get the rhythm right once and you'll ride like you've done it for years in every photo.
